Saying Goodbye to our 43rd President

I do not believe that I have ever disliked my 43rd president. I believe I was always quite fond of him. Maybe it was his charm and charisma and the fraternity like behavior he seemed to display. I thought President Bush was fun, youthful and possibly meant well. I never thought he acted in malice like some greedy politicians but possibly was a lot more youthful than he should have been. He seemed to have been a man that was “in” based on his networks and name.

Throughout his term, I saw him grow into someone far more powerful and more presidential. Maybe it was 9/11 that shook him up. I am not sure but he definitely has exuded a certain confidence, assuredness and leadership as President.

I will miss those silly camera shots of our 43rd President capturing him dancing offbeat somewhere overseas or displaying those power and control handshakes or pats on the back with another world leader. I will miss his somewhat cool yet stiff walk as he stroll across the white house lawn in DC. And I think I will miss those untimely speeches that seem to always interrupt watching “the View”.

For whatever reason, his favoritism rating rose towards the end of his term. Maybe not much, but it has been higher than it ever has been in a while. Maybe it was the constant Bush Administration bashing throughout the 2008 election. Bush did not seem to flinch or become disturbed by the election. Or maybe it was his bravery and quick reflex dodging a shoe attack overseas. Or could it be his display of fondness and cooperation with incoming president. Or maybe Americans are saying enough is enough, already. Who knows?

I will miss the 43rd President. I wish him well and safety in his next journey. And who knows, maybe we will see him campaigning for a deserving Republican Presidential Candidate. Or maybe Laura may run for president! (Hah)

Delete Comment Time will tell if Bush made wise decisions. I have had my thoughts on Bush presidency both great and not so great.
As Americans, we are always divided when it comes to supporting our leaders. President Obama is loved by many, including myself but there are many who can not and will not see that he is acting on the behalf of the country. Sometimes, we can not understand why others may not see things from our perspective. I have found myself bouncing from one network to another to find those that support my thoughts and opinions.
This is what makes us spectacular as American people, the difference, the variety, the many changes, our passions for one thing to another. My hope is for us to come together and make positive changes, embrace those that are different and keep open minds.

Delete Comment You have an interesting perspective of our president. This is a reminder for me to be open to others' perspective. I have had the impression, that he was narrow-minded and out of touch with the people he is serving. Maybe I will come to see that some of his decisions were based on wisdom.

Delete Comment I also was fond of our 43rd President, and found him to be charming, with a spirit of playful humor despite the burdens of his office. He served as a role model of strength and determination during the worst, and most frightful attack on our country and was a guiding light we could look to in that time of crisis. I believe his responsibility and spirit were conflicted by some of the choices he had to make, but he made them nonetheless. His overcoming all obstacles to become president were disturbing to some, but unbeknown to us, we would need his forcefulness in days to come. I believe in God, and I also believe that there are no coincedences, or lucky accidents. I hope Mr. Bush enjoys a well-deserved rest, and wish the best for his family. I pray for our new president also, and for healing and God's grace and mercy on our nation. Paris

Delete Comment History and hindsight will show how much good he did while the liberal press tried to destroy him. Thank God for the internet.
